CHANGING A FILE ASSOCIATION
I have ".log files" that somehow got associated with the Kodakimg.exe imager
which does not support these type of files. I would like to be able to open them with NOTEPAD or WORDPAD. Usually I can find the "open with" option when I right click on properties and I can choose what type of program I want to associate the file with. When I rightclick the properties all I get is the "open" option which is stuck on the Kodak imager and I get the "document Invalid or not supported message". My Kodak imager works fine and i also can view the ".log files" in DOS. My question is what can I do to change the file association that has the "kodak" insignia picture locked on these files? Thank you very much for your help. |

"Open with" is available on RightClick only when the file has no association
yet, to get the "open with" for a file type that has the association set, use Shift-RightClick. many instances of .log files are not text files, they may also be the uninstaller information for windows installer to uninstall the associated application, if you chose a log file that is illegible dont delete it, it may make uninstall or program modification difficult or impossible. Usually, it *is* Shift-Right-Click.
Myself, when I run across things like your erroneous LOG file = association (and DAT, TMP, etc.) I go into the Registry and delete the = appropriate key from HKEY_Classes_Root. Then always remember to uncheck = the "Always Open With" option if using OpenWith. --=20 Gary S. Terhune MS MVP Shell/User =20 "mrbigbry" wrote in message = ... YOU THE MAN!!
