Ah, that would be the "Purple monkey dishwasher incompatible operating
system" error message! The solution is to use the correct software for the operating system. Or to give us enough information to be able to give a real answer! Sonic Record Now!'s system requirements are that the user be running
either XP Home or XP Pro. This means that you cannot install it on system using the Win Me or any other Win 9x operating system. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP [2001-2004] Joe wrote: anyone have any helpful suggestions about installing sonic record now on ME? just bout a new CDRW drive that came with that software but when installing some error message comes up about incompatible operating system. |

sm,
that's all the information i have, other than the sonic web site gives system requirments for windows ME. so from that i did a long stretch and deduced that if they are giving system requirements then it must be possible to run on that os. i know it's a stretch though. so, maybe somebody out there knows that you must have a certain patch or something to install it. That's odd and I agree that is what the Sonic site says for v7.2. Using
Google I got to quite a few sites, all of which give the System Requirements for Record Now! as being a minimum of XP If Win Me is indeed within the system requirements for Record Now! there would appear to be a large number of web sites and reviews that need correction and also the program needs amendment otherwise you wouldn't be seeing the message about Win Me being an incompatible operating system. Perhaps you should contact Sonic for help in installing "Record Now!" -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP [2001-2004] Joe wrote: i wonder why when I go to their site and select my product it give me a list of sytem requirements for windows ME? |

yes I thought I should contact them also, but, this isn't for myself. someone else asked me. and the first thing they want for you to contact them is some registered address. meaning i had to have registered the software with them. so i expect if i do go that route i will find because the software came OEM with the burner, they will say sorry about your luck we don't support OEM software. not that i have ever heard that line before. i thought maybe i couild find a newsgroup for that software in particular, where i would be sure to find the right answer, but i had no luck with that either. Joe,
Try asking in either the alt.comp.periphs.cdr or comp.publish.cdrom.software newsgroups on Usenet. You are probably more likely to come across someone there who is using this software. Sorry not to be able to assist but never having used Record Now! I have nothing else to suggest. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP [2001-2004] Joe wrote: yes I thought I should contact them also, but, this isn't for myself. someone else asked me. and the first thing they want for you to contact them is some registered address. meaning i had to have registered the software with them. so i expect if i do go that route i will find because the software came OEM with the burner, they will say sorry about your luck we don't support OEM software. not that i have ever heard that line before. i thought maybe i couild find a newsgroup for that software in particular, where i would be sure to find the right answer, but i had no luck with that either. |

I suspect that a different version will change the whole scenario. The Person who asked me had purchased the new burner from dell to go with his Dell pc, so he is going to have a go with dell support again. he said so far they have done nothing but the phone shuffle with him. Since they sold both devices, and OEM software is supposed to be supported by the OEM seller, I think they should be able to figure it out. "Noel Paton" wrote in message ... If there's no hurry, I'll have a go at installing Sonic on my ME system here (my version is RecordNow DX 4.60 - runs very nicely on my XP box), but I won't be able to get to it until the weekend. -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2004, Win9x) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "Mike M" wrote in message ...
