Install error message: Not enough space on D
When installing Windows 98 SE using the original CD ROM, I get his message:
Not enough space on D To install Win 98 on drive C, you need 21 mb of space on D. D has only 1.4 mb To take care of this problem, please remove some files from hard drive. Hard drive is drive C. How would that free up space on D? Actually, there is no drive D, unless it is some sort of virtual drive. When partitioning the hard drive, I put everything in C. In other words, i did not create two partitions on the hard drive. Is that not acceptable and causing the problem? Thanks Satish |

Is it a retail Windows CD or an OEM CD?
Or is it an OEM Recovery CD? At the command prompt, type the following and press Enter: fdisk /status What does the output show? -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Satish Gupta" wrote in message ... Install error message: Not enough space on D
This is an OEM CD-ROM. It reads “Windows 98, For PCs without Windows.”
Through trial and error, I was able to solve the problem. Originally, I was booting up with a floppy disk. I decided to try booting up with the CD-ROM. When I did that and used setup command, it did not give me the space problem message. Thank you for your help. You have helped me in the past with much bigger problems than this. Install error message: Not enough space on D
Glad you figured it out. I was wondering if it was an OEM CD (which are bootable),
which is why I asked. The disc may not have been designed (or designed correctly) to use via a boot floppy, rather than directly booting from the CD. The devil is in the details..... Regards. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Satish Gupta" wrote in message ... This is an OEM CD-ROM.
