systray loading problems
Every so often, my computer hangs while loading the desktop, particularly the
systray. Knowledge Base article #259744 recommends changing the following two registry values HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Applets\SysTray\Services HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Applets\SysTray\Services by altering the hexadecimal value from 8 to 7. However, when I enter those paths in regedit, my hexadecimal value is actually "f". Can I change it safely? Is the fact that it is a letter and not a number the root of my problem? Thanks. |

I have read the article and I really don't know why it is saying "8 to
7" when my value is "e" on both computers in front of me at the moment. As "e" is one less that your "f". I suggest you try that, as I am sure it is standard. You can always change it again. I also don't know why they suggest changing both keys as they are exactly the same key. (One is a duplicate of the other, as you will find out when you change one and the other alters.) ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/index.html In microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion, "aleksm42" wrote: Every so often, my computer hangs while loading the desktop, particularly the systray. That's what I have. |
