IE and properties
Recently just started doing this:
When I right click IE on the desktop, and select properties, nothing happens. When I right click IE on the desktop, and select properties a 2nd time, properties opens on the desktop for my perusal. Later, if I open windows explorer from the menu, explorer will open and present things normally. In addition, IE properties will open as well. I have no clue on this one. |

Try these:
Reboot, see if that helps. Click Control Panel Internet Options Advanced tab, scroll to "Show Internet explorer on the desktop" and uncheck it, click OK. Then go back and check the box again, click OK. Do an IE Repair: Click StartRun, type the following and click Enter, for IE5x: RUNDLL32 SETUPWBV.DLL,IE5Maintenance or this, if you have IE6x installed: RUNDLL32 SETUPWBV.DLL,IE6Maintenance Choose the Repair option, and continue. If the repair says it cannot complete, or it does not fix the problem, reinstall Internet Explorer: Recovering From a Failed Internet Explorer Upgrade in Windows 98: http://tinyurl.com/r5ba When doing a repair or reinstall, be sure to close all open apps and background apps, disable the anti-virus and screensaver. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Lil' Dave" wrote in message ... Try entering msinfo32 in the Start = Run box and then
click Tools = IE Repair Tool. If that doesn't work, try downloading the installer for IE6 SP1 from http://support.microsoft.com/ and run it while online to install the IE update. Then visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ to check for security updates that need to be installed. Found your same first suggestion under system information, tools on the
desktop menu. And, it worked. Thanks. "Eric" wrote in message ... Try entering msinfo32 in the Start = Run box and then click Tools = IE Repair Tool. Which, BTW, is the same tool as I mentioned for doing an IE Repair. Those are just
some of the ways to get to the IE Repair Tool. ;-) Click StartRun, type the following and click Enter, for IE5x: RUNDLL32 SETUPWBV.DLL,IE5Maintenance or this, if you have IE6x installed: RUNDLL32 SETUPWBV.DLL,IE6Maintenance -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Lil' Dave" wrote in message ... Yep. Way I mentioned was intuitive to me, required least keyboard/mouse
intervention as well. "glee" wrote in message ... Which, BTW, is the same tool as I mentioned for doing an IE Repair.
