Default computer freezes playing videos

Hi!
Does any one have a solution to this? When ever I click on a "video" from
the Internet (on hotmail or yahoo for instance,) the computer always just
stops immediately.
I can't handle it with "control alt delete" and the computer won't restart.
I have to turn it off from the computer button.
I have IE 6 windows 98se.
I'm a bit of a noviice. Perhaps it isn't a problem to some people.
I would really appreciate some ideas on handling this if any one
has any please.
