Default missing files

When I try to open a TMP OR LOG file, I get a message telling me that Windows
cannot open the file because of missing blank.exe. What does this mean?

Not all files have "file associations", executables that automatically
launch when you try to open the file. LOG and TMP files normally have no
file associations. Instead, for LOG files, use NOTEPAD.EXE to read them. You
can try that for the TMP files, too, but you may not be able to read them as
they may not be in plain text.

I can understand why you might want to read a LOG file, but why do you want
to read TMP files?

Thank you for your help. I was actually trying to figure out whether I
needed these files in my Temporary folder or if they were just taking up
space and checking their properties didn't really help.

When it comes to TEMP folders, anything that you *can* delete is safe to
delete. If you can't delete it, it's in use and you want to leave it alone.

You might want to read my article, "Clean Boot -- What it is and why you
need it." Has some useful info regarding the TEMP files.

The simplest way to have Notepad (or Wordpad or whatever) available for all files is
to add a shortcut to the SendTo folder so that Notepad appears in the right-click
SendTo context menu of every file.

Click Start Run, type: sendto |Click OK|
Create a new shortcut to Notepad in the SendTo folder.....voila!
