Default delivery status notification(failure)

If you get a "delivery status notification(failure)" email after sending an
email to a valid email addressx, what would your conclusion be?

Careful with those! Even if it is a valid address & you sent an E-Mail to it, I can think it is infected & sending a virus back to you!

(1) "R-Clk the InBox, Find, check 'Received before', click 'Find Now"".
(2) R-Clk any suspect message, & select "Properties".
(3) At the Details tab, click "Message Source"

That is a safe way to look at suspect items. If it says inside... "This is a multi-part message in MIME format."... it could contain a virus!

Alternatively... "OE, Tools menu, Options, Read tab, check 'Read all messages in plain text'"... hopefully is just about the same.

I'd read the status message to see why. It could be that the recipient's
mailbox is full, or is rejecting your email as spam, or any one of a hundred
other reasons.

At face value of your symptoms stated, intentional bounce by the recepient,
thus the message you receive. But, could be alot of things among this one
possibility. If consistent, and the recepient is receiving emails from
others, probably not.

Did you check for Typo's if the recipient wasnt in your addy book?
Next, phone him/her and ask whats going on.
Lastly, do what pcr said, except for the Find scenario. Just right click
on the msg, properties, details, msg source.... doing this lets you
peek
at the inside without opening the mail.

I do the Find, because I am set to "Automatically download message when viewing in the preview pane" at "OE, Tools menu, Options, Read tab".

Therefore, I NEVER click the InBox, until I've done that little investigation & deleted the suspects!

Sounds fair enuff, but I dont see where it really differs from what I
suggested........ in the long run that is.

I don't know, really, the true consequence, but I don't want an unknown message to display in the Preview Pane. With my current settings, an L-Clk on the InBox puts all messages into the Message List Pane-- & opens the top one into the Preview Pane. R-Clk, Find, etc., won't do that.
