Default Mouse Delay After Overnight Sleep

I am using an MS Intellimouse Explorer on Win98. It works fine most
of the time; but, if I leave my computer on overnight, the next
morning there is a slight delay when moving the mouse. It sticks for
a fraction of a second and then moves. It is not an extreme problem
but it is somewhat irritating nonetheless. Rebooting fixes the
problem completely; but, I cannot leave the computer on for extended
periods of time without getting this irritating "sticky" mouse. Any
ideas on how this might be resolved would be most appreciated.
