Here's a real treat....

Free version of Acronis v8

http://www.acronis.co.uk/mag/pcpro/ati8pe

Rick

(I haven't tried filling out this form myself, since I'm already a
registered user for all their versions anyway)

Completing that form merely gets you a reg code - you still need to locate the
software.

Thanks again, Rick. I followed the link, registered, got
a password and serial number e-mailed to me, and I went back
and downloaded it. I've passed all this back to my buddy,
who needs it for his WIN 98 OS.

Your welcome,

If anyone is interested to see back in 2004 all the Acronis webpages that
were showing online for v8 back then, like System Requirements, Feature
Details, etc, etc, ..all of these I had saved as mht offline webpages back
in 2004, and fyc I just uploaded if anyone wants to read them.
I imagine don't use v8 on Vista, or obviously since so many hardware
advancements were made since 2004 there may be some hardware situations
that this older v8 wont recognize or have drivers for, like some
specialized SATA RAID controller cards setups, etc; however it does
recognize SATA 1.5 Controllers with SATA 3.0 HD's just fine and I've used
it for those circumstances many times, all well as all matters of PATA.

Anyway, here's the link for the offline webpage mht's..

You're right but also wrong, Reb. Once you are 'registered', having
registered for True Image 8.0 Personal, you just click on
Registered Products on their My Account Page on their website,
and there's a link for downloading it. Just a bit roundabout,
but not as bad as most.

I filled out the form and a window came up saying they had emailed me,
but I never received the email. Wonder what's up with that?

Actually if you now log onto your Acronis Account, you will see that
registration listed yes, As Well as a link to download the program update!
Well, that's how all my registered versions work anyway, and I'm sure for
yours too.

You're welcome. v8 is good for W98, W2K, WXP too; actually v6 is the
best for W98 because of it's simplistic GUI and small footprint, where v8
has extra bells and whistles I never use let alone even clicked through and
imho are not needed anyway. Actually v9, v10 & v11 have even more stuuuuff
that's not needed as each version progresses, all of which I only use
strictly the imager portion on any of them, and ignore the rest.
