Default Virus and Spyware protection

Hi
I am running windows 98 and have just installed broadband. I have AVG
protection and no other. What is the recomended protection that I should
have to protect me whilst on the net.

Default Virus and Spyware protection

If you don't already have a firewall (most routers include one, or
increasingly, many broadband modems also include one) then you need one.
I'd suggest a hardware firewall since the first thing many viruses and
trojans try to do once they get into your system is disable any software
firewalls present.

I agree. I have protection in my router and then Zone Alarm Pro. as a
second layer of protection as part of a multi-layered defense strategy.

Be aware that Zone Alarm have stopped updating the free version of the
firewall for Win 98/ 98SE. It will still work perfectly ok but you may have
trouble finding/down loading it. The version you will need is 6.1.744.001.

Yup and that is the version of ZA Pro. that I use in 98SE and the most
recent version on my XP Pro. side.
