Default dial up modem out

My friend has an old Micron MPC Pro Q pc running Win 98. He's on dialup
ISP. His modem quit the other day, and we're trying to put a replacement
in.

Once we physically get the new one in, is it as simple as going through the
"add hardware" Win 98 routine to finish the install (plus running any
supplied software, if any is included)?

Once the pc recognizes the modem, that's all we'll have to do, isn't it?
The email account remains as it was, so that's taken care of. Anything
else?

Shouldn't have to ouch add new hardware.
Indtsll the modem soft ware BEFORE you inert the modem, then
insert the modem and re-boot. system should automatically find it.

That is unlikely to be correct for a dial up modem. The correct information
is to install the software according to the instructions supplied with the
modem.
