Folder Options Restrictions
I am new to this stuff and I have run into a problem. I
want to look at and possibly change the folder option but when I try I get a message that the restrictions on this computer do not allow access. I have no idea what is going on. I got ythis computer from my brother and he assures me that this is all new to him as well. Is ther any way I ccan get this bloody thing to let me change the folder options. Any help would be appreciated. Pleazse send me and info you can. Thanks a bunch. |

Can you be more precise about exactly where you get the restrictions
message? Is it when you use Explorer-View and click Folder Options Is it Start-Settings-Folder Options? (or don't you have that?) I am aware of restrictions that remove Folder Options completely but not of one that gives a message when you click Folder Options, so perhaps I am misinterpreting your post. ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/index.html In microsoft.public.win98.display.general, "Mary Baker" wrote: I am new to this stuff and I have run into a problem. Whenever I open any folder like "windows" or my own folder
of documents and click "view" then I get an error when I click "folder options". The message says the operation was terminated due to restrictions placed on this computer and that I should contact the system administrator. I am very greatful for any help you can gaive. -----Original Message----- Can you be more precise about exactly where you get the restrictions message? OK. That is clear.
Someone (or something) has set a restriction in your Registry. If you feel competent, you can remove it with Regedit. (Start-Run-Regedit) There are several keys that contain policies like: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Policies\Explorer HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Inte rnet Explorer\Restrictions HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Inte rnet Explorer\Control Panel The closest restriction I have listed is usually in the first of those keys and is called NoFolderOptions. If you have that, then remove it or change its value from 1 to 0 I thought that it removed the Folder Options completely, rather than gave a message but I will test it later to see if necessary. If you don't feel competent, then we can take it slowly. Just tell me if there is anything you don't understand. ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/index.html In microsoft.public.win98.display.general, "Mary Baker" wrote: Whenever I open any folder like "windows" or my own folder of documents and click "view" then I get an error when I click "folder options".
