Default SaveAs box displays inverted file list

For the last couple of weeks the SaveAs box (or Open box
etc) has been displaying the list of files in *descending*
order.

Does anyone know how to correct this, so that they list in
normal ascending order?

I've never seen or heard of this problem and I've got a
sneaky suspicion that this is a little trick that some
bright spark has pulled on me. I'm hoping that I'm wrong and
that there is an 'option' somewhere that I can select -
wishfull thinking? :-)

Using win98.

Help appreciated.

Dagwood
