Replacing Motherboards
I have 2 pc's basically the same. I use 1 for parts to
keep this thing up. What would it involve to exchange motherboards. The one I am using now is an intel as is the other, but the other is better. Any help appreciated. thanks D |

Any help appreciated. thanks D Unless the two motherboards are *identical* there is good possibility of serious problems if you do not prepare properly for the change. Best method is to boot the computer one last time with the old motherboard. Use Start - Run Regedit and expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder. Select it and then use File - Save to save the contents to a .REG file on your desktop or in a readily accessible location on your hard drive. This is a backup just in case things go bloooey. Now use Edit - Delete to remove the entire Enum folder from the registry. Immediately shut down the computer and do the motherboard swap. When you start up the computer it will redetect all of the computer hardware and load the appropriate drivers and configuration settings for what is actually present. Several restarts will probably be necessary to complete the hardware identification. Good luck Ron Martell Duncan B.C.
