changing Dimmed menu item colors
Dimmed menu item colors.
Since my old XP machine died, I'm using my old windows 98 machine to do quick Google searches while trying to solve a problem or issue on my more modern computer. I've decided to play around with the color schemes in the Display control panel, and I've got some colors I like, but I can't figure out how to affect inactive menu colors. The light blue is hard to read against the current colors I've chosen. The main issue is in Firefox it's hard to see the tab divisions as well as the text displayed by a few add-ons. Not to mention annoying to see the dimmed "Forward" or "Stop" buttons and having to squint to make out the text below them. The problem is global, but Firefox is the only one it really matters for. So, how do I affect the inactive menu item text color? I think I've tried everything in the Display control panel under "appearance", but can't figure it out. I might have missed one by not hitting "apply". I've included a screenshot where I've circled the text color's I'd like to change. http://www.flickr.com/photos/10736018@N05/4787536788/ So, which precise options should I use to make an easier-to-read contrasting color? |

I don't think there is a setting for the font color of inactive menu items. Change the color of your menus and applications instead. Why do you care in the first place? An inactive item is just that...inactive...so it matters not whether you have to squint, you can't click it. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Oct. 2002 - Sept. 2009 A+ http://dts-l.net/ |

oups.com: Dimmed menu item colors. That's "inactive". A free PCMagazine utility called DisplaySet allows you to do what you mentioned and more. If you can't find it, I can post it for you. -- You know, that women never really faint And that villains always blink their eyes And that, you know, children are the only ones who blush And that life is just to die - Lou Reed |
