Default win 98 problem

I have a homemade pc that I bought recently and just recently when i try to
boot it will start opening windows and then immediatly windows will shut
down from the startup screen (IT NEVER OPENS) the system has an intel mb and
hardware but I know that it is not a hardware problem because when I put in
another HDD from an old pc it was able to boot. I thought that it was the hd
but I installed it as a slave drive and it works except for the drivers for
the board. What would be causing windows to be doing this on the first drive
and how do I fix it. I do not have the win 98 disk as it was preinstalled
but there is a copy of the disk on the hd.
help pleasa.

Default win 98 problem

the article that Ron is referring to talks about my problem with one
exception it says to reinstall windows but I do not have the actual disk it
is located on the hard drive controlled by windows which will not open so
how can I reinstall windows.
I am not trying to be sarcastic with this just wondering if there is a way.
thanks in advance.

Press the F8 or CTRL key during the boot. When the Boot menu appears, choose
Command prompt only. From the command prompt, type:

Scanreg /restore

There is a space between the word scanreg and the /.

Choose a date that is prior to your problem.
