help!!!

My, computer acts as if it has a virus, although norton
scans and says all is good. My i.e.6 will not function,
and my windows will boot, but when you try to do anything,
it all locks up and you get the system busy
message,finally after numerous ctrl/alt/deletes you can
get it to reboot. The computer will only work when you
boot up in safe mode. System restore will not even work.

The fact that it boots in Safe Mode and works properly there could mean a
number of things
1) you have items in Startup that are interfering
look here for instructions on how to clean up your startup axis, preventing
unnecessary programs loading

2) you have driver problems
Reboot to Safe Mode and have a look in Device Manager - remove any
error-flagged entries there, and post back with any other anomalies.

3) You have registry problems

Your System Restore problem - you need to give us the EXACT error message
you get when attempting to use System Restore - we should then be able to
get it functional again (although it's possible that it can't help you in
this situation). First off - try this
Boot to Safe Mode - go to Start|Run, and type SCANREG /FIX and click OK -
Windows will reboot - see if that helps.
