Reinstall Win ME without loossing my Docs.

Default Reinstall Win ME without loossing my Docs.

My computer will not boot up, so now I being advise to
reinstall Win ME. I don't want to loose all me personal
data. What can I do?

Follow the instructions carefully, You will be given the
option to install the software without removing your
other data. You will be warned that you may lose some
files/data but this is unlikely. Unfortunately this is
the only way to reinstall WinME or any other operating
system for that matter. If you have a backup of all your
files, particularly your desktop, rewriting the hard
drive is a good option.

Formatting the hard drive before re-installing is indeed a good tidying up
option as it will clear out any dross that will have accumulated.

However, it will also wipe all your personal data, all your desktop
settings, your internet connection settings, your email history and any
programs that you have installed. Basically, it gives you a clean sheet. DO
NOT do it unless you know that you have backups of *everything* you need to
get back up and running.

If you just want to get the system booting again, I strongly advise against
formatting the hard disk.

I believe you can use selected reinstall. Cant you ask
your pc supplier to help. Thats what I had to do and
reinstalled without losing my stuff. Just cant remember
how now!!
