You are NOT using Microsoft's server as your connection. Instead, it
has been *injected* via third parties.

To display a direct authorized connection requires something like this:

NNTP-Posting-Host: {some host} {some address}
Path: {id}.phx.gbl!{id}.phx.gbl

No its not as easy, and not a bug. If you are curious then look at the
RFCs and similar associated with the NNTP standard and for providing
a/the service. And look at how to use W2K as a true server/service.

Do Microsoft have a good NNTP Server to Buy for win 2000 sp 4

W2K could be setup as a "server" depending upon WHAT W2K [search around
for more info].

Windows 2000 Services
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb742605.aspx

However, yes Microsoft offered "actual servers" [real/stand-alone such
as 2003, Exchange, MCMS, etc.].

Not sure what you are trying to do, but the new forums for the servers
could/might possibly provide an answer on general server setup [not sure
how these types of W2K questions are being handled there]. Note however,
that "public" connections "server-wise" are being ended with the
phase-out and closing of the MSNews NNTP service.

QinetiQ-SharePoint-NNTP-Binaries.zip by MS I pick up for win2000
if I can not getting NNTP server up and running on win98 I'll move to
SharePoint-NNTP on win2000

if the MSNews NNTP service Close I'll move to alt.free.newsservers
they may be able to help me do this on a win98 LOOL

Ok I'll look at how to use W2K as a true server/service.

and not a bug, But RFCs right!

Also, of note is that July 13, 2010 is the end of support from Microsoft of
Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 2000 Server as well. It also ends
support for Windows XP SP 2 but Windows XP SP 3 will still be supported.
