Replacing network adapter
Cable modem - phone voip Adapter - PC
---------- "Jeff Richards" wrote in message ... Full duplex is faster if everything is functioning correctly, but if it's not all 100% correct then it can actually be worse than half duplex. What else is connected to your network? If it's only a modem/router to your Internet connection then almost certainly full duplex will work properly, although as your speeds will never be near the maximum available it won't actually make much difference. -- Jeff Richards ---------------------------------------- "Aster" wrote in message ... Sure, I understand this difference. It looks full duplex mode has conclusive advantages. So not clear, why the half-duplex is set as Default mode in Network adapter, not full-duplex? ---------- "Buffalo" wrote in message ... Aster wrote: I want to replace my network adapter with new D-Link 10/100Mbps PCI Adapter. Which Duplex mode would be better to set in Network properties, Full duplex or Half duplex? Connection speed is around 25/10 Mbit/s (assymetric). thank "half-duplex flows in one direction at a time, full-duplex flows in both directions at the same times". I would sure try the full duplex mode. Buffalo PS: You can always change it later. |

Replacing network adapter
The adapter may be configured for full duplex, but in any case you are not
using speeds anywhere near the system capacity. Unless you have some network diagnostic software that can provide the details, half duplex is probably the safer option. It won't affect throughput to any detectable degree, but if full duplex is not working properly it can put a heavy processing load on the PC. You can always experiment with both to see if you can detect a difference. -- Jeff Richards ---------------------------------------- "Aster" wrote in message ...
