Default What if I don't have the M/E CD anymore?!

I am trying to use the Sony Cybershot camera I got for
Christmas, but when my computer recognizes the added
hardware and tries to install it - a driver is apparently
missing and I am prompted to put in the original Microsoft
Millenium installation CD. Yikes! I no longer have it.
What can I do?!

Look for a folder on your hard disk containing the file BASE2.CAB, (usually
either C:\Windows\Options\Cabs or C:\Windows\Options\Install) and when
asked by the installer for the files, point the installer at that folder.

USB drivers

This seems to be a common problem with some OEM installs of Win Me.

The files are in the "cab" files in the Win9x folder on the Win Me CD and/or
in a sub-folder of Windows\Options and not directly visible in Explorer.
See
MS KB 265371 - "How to Extract and Replace a Protected File in Windows Me"
(http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=265371) for details of how to extract
files
from the cab set. Alternatively use MSConfig | General | Extract File...
and
follow the prompts to extract a new copy of the required files to your
windows\system32\drivers folder . Most USB related files can be found in
BASE2.CAB although some are located in other cabs.

However probably the easiest way to proceed is for you visit to
http://www.usb-drivers.com/drivers/63/63237.htm and download usb-WinMe.exe
which contains WinMe's usb related files. Extract the files you want and
put
them in windows\system32\drivers.

And on this strange computer of mine, the BASE2.CAB files are on the D drive
in the Win9X folder....not in the Options one on C Drive.

Cheers....Heather
