Default No Modem Icon in System Tray

Hello -

This WinME PC is using a dialup connection for Inet access
(Lucent Win Modem). How can I get the modem icon to show
in the System Tray when the modem is online?

I've searched the KB and come up empty.

Appreciate any help.

This may vary slightly depending on your configuration.
Rightclick your DUN connection and select Properties.
Press the Configure button under the modem.
On the Options tab, check "Display Modem Status"

Did as you suggested and clicked that tab. Regrettably it
still doesn't show the modem icon. He is using Earthlink
swre for his ISP, could (or should) that have any effect
on the situation?

I don't see why Earthlink should be relevant for dial-up as the option
should be only dependent on the modem but I have no experience with
Earthlink and I have no idea what "swre" means.

Did he reboot?

Did as you suggested and checked that box. Unfortunately
I still don't see the icon when the modem is online, nor
do I see the 'dialing progress' window appear when the
connection is being established as I do on some other
machines.

This unit is running Earthlink TotalAccess 2003 swre for
the dialing and ISP access. Could (or should) this have
any effect on the situation?

Fred,

Why not uninstall Earthlink TotalAccess?

While I am not familiar with TotalAccess, research into this
unfortunate software indicates that Earthlink works perfectly well
without it.
I would pass on an email thread we are having on Earthlink software at
the moment, but the language may not be suitable for a public forum.
