Sound problem with my computer

I was trying to clean up my computer and I think I have inadvertently
uninstalled or killed my sound.?? I did uninstall some programs and I'm
afraid I might have killed the sound to my computer......When I play various
video, I now get video only and no sound....Also, just during the normal
operation I get no sound whatsoever? Can someone give me some advice?

First check Device Manager to see if your sound device is present or if =
it has a conflict.
Click Start Settings Control Panel System DM tab + next to =
Sound, Video and Game Controllers. If it is not present or has a =
conflict you need to reinstall the drivers for it.

Next in Control Panel click Multimedia. Is your device listed as the =
preferred device or is it in the dropdown list where you can select it? =
If not, you need to reinstall it.=20
