Default add/remove program

the add/remove program that comes with windows98se list
the programs that can be removed by windows. the names are
sometimes just letters, for example wprc. Is there a way
to find out which folder on the computer that the program
is located, this would make it easier to determine which
programs some on the entres refer to and help to determine
if you wanted to remove the program. It would be helpful
in tracking down some of the adware that may have been
installed on the computer.

Download tweakui from microsoft.com; then when it is
installed and running (Start control panel tweakui)
goto Add/Remove; choose item in question; then choose
edit; it will tell you where the uninstaller is, sometimes
it isn't in the directory though.

Not really. When a program's install routine runs, one of the things
it's supposed to do is to make an entry in the Add/Remove list (in the
registry). This entry consists of two items: the name of the program
(which is displayed when you run the Add/Remove control panel applet),
and the path to its uninstall routine (provided by the program, not by
the OS). All the Windows OS does is to provide the Add/Remove applet
which shows the list, allows you to select from it, and runs the
uninstall routine for the program you selected.

Use TweakUi, as the other poster suggested, or just run regedit
(Start|Run, type in regedit), and search the registry for the program
name you're wondering about ("wrpc" in this case).
