Default Diagnostic at startup

When I startup the computer and the desktop is showing the
computer does a diagnostic search, searching Router,
Ipaddress, ethernet connection, etc. it does a loopback
test and then says diagnostic is complete and the I have
to click ok and it is fine. This has never happened before
and I just installed an ethernet card and a DSL modem and
maybe I initiated something in the start up menu to do
this. I went into msconfig and looked at the startup files
and the only one that looks close to a diagnostic is the
AOL diag.exe. Any suggestions or is more info needed.

Thanks.

Shut down one unknown program at a time on the MSconfig start up screen
until you find the right program.
