oeault32.dll error when updating realplayer

My oeault32.dll is causing errors in updating realplayer.
Somehow I have version 2.40.4514 and need to be running a
compatible W98SE version such as v.30.4261.1. So how do I
get this changed?

Dunno where you got that 30.4261.1 version number from, as there is none that I see.
Have a look Microsoft's DLL Help Database:

and search oleaut32.dll...you will find that even the version that came with Windows
ME is 2.40.4515.0 and the version that comes with IE6 SP1 is 2.40.4518.0

What makes you think you need a different version? Problems with updates may be due
to RealPlayer itself, as it is a troublesome program (that has a history of privacy
violations).
