Default No sound on Media Player 7.10

I have Windows Media Player 7.10 and for some reason it
will not play sound. I did a fresh re-install of the
latest version after removing it completely from my pc.
Still have the same problem. I also have Real Player which
works fine without a problem. I have checked all the
settings in the media player and can not find anything
that could be causing the problem. I had previous versions
on a different hard drive using the same laptop also with
Real Player but media player worked fine then. I did a
fresh install of Windows 98 on my new hard drive and
installed and transfered my files and programs. It's
basically the same set up as with the old hard drive but
after installing my programs and files on the new hard
drive I have this problem with the media player. It plays
the video without a problem and with no error messages, it
just won't play the audio with the video or just a audio
file like mp3. Perhaps you have an idea of what could be
the problem and if you so please inform me directly if you
would at my Email address or else on this message board.
Any help is appreciated and thanks.
