wifi in Paris France
I doubt anyone here knows much about French WiFi, but I'll bet that if you
ask in a French-speaking forum, even if your write in English, you'll get a response. -- Gary S. Terhune MS-MVP Shell/User www.grystmill.com "wang26681" wrote in message ... wifi in Paris France
I didn't see the original post.
I'm going Paris this summer and want to know companies providing wifi hotspots in Paris, any information is appreciated. The question is too open-ended. If you are in a "hot-spot", it doesn't really matter who is offering it or who the underlying ISP is. I presume you'll have a lap-top. If so, then open it and look for an unsecure network. If you can connect and get an IP assignment, then you have internet access. If you're in an area that's covered by a pay-only wireless provider, then you can usually fork over your credit-card info right through your browser to get an hour or a day's worth of connectivity. Most European hotels will want an extra 5 to 15 euros per day for wifi. If you opt for that, they will give you a card with an access code that they will validate and that you will use each time you connect to their wifi network. One thing I find useful when I travel with a laptop is to use a program called PC-Telephone. I can make IP-to-IP phone calls, and I have my home PC set up to receive calls (and it helps to know the IP address of the machine I'm calling). And it's a totally free phone call (assuming you've connected to a free wifi hotspot (or someone's un-secured residential wifi router). |
