Default Incorrect Partition & HDD Size Displayed

I just replaced a dead original 40GB HDD in a Compaq 5108US (Windows ME) with
an 80GB drive. After running the QuickRestore disks to install ME, "My
Computer" shows the HDD size as approximately 16GB. I ran Fdisk from the ME
Startup floppy and the maximum partition I can create is displayed as 15839
MB.

I looked at article 263044 and 263045. Neither mention a problem with the
HDD size dispayed in "My Computer", and article 263044 states that "the
problem was corrected in WIndows Millennium Edition".

Do I have one or two issues here? Does the "download fix" in article 263044
really apply to ME?

If the download fix 263044usa8.exe is the resolution, will an ME startup
floppy made after this patch is installed have a fixed version of Fdisk?

Thanks.
