Word Pad
I'm posting this question here as I cannot find a group that is more
appropiate. This concerns Word Pad, Microsoft's free publishing program. The question:- When I produce a document, save it and subsequently re-open it I find that the details of the font, the font size are correct. But, the layout of the page, for example A5 or A4 is not. It defaults to A4. Any ideas why this should be? Many thanks, David |

I don't think that even Microsoft would ever have called Wordpad a publishing program, instead it's an application that can produce rich text format files. Any ideas why this should be? I hate to say this, and I am seeing the same as yourself, is that this is because WordPad doesn't save the page size or the margin positions in the rtf documents it produces. Word, however, does and includes much more formatting information in the rtf files it produces including page and margin information such as: \paperw8392\paperh11907\margl1797\margr1797 for A5 paper -- Mike Maltby David42 wrote: I'm posting this question here as I cannot find a group that is more appropiate. Word Pad
Hi Mike,
Many thanks for your reply. I just asked to see if I was doing something wrong. It's certainly no problem to redo the page size even on an existing document. Thanks again, David "Mike M" wrote: This concerns Word Pad, Microsoft's free publishing program. Word Pad
Hi Mike: I read your thread with David, it caught my eye because I've been
trying to find a fix for my problem with Wordpad but the previous advice didn't help. When trying to download or open certain doc., I keep getting this error message: Wordpad has caused an error in MSWR832.CNV, Wordpad will now close. I have uninstalled/reinstalled ME it didn't help. Can you or anyone help me? "Mike M" wrote: This concerns Word Pad, Microsoft's free publishing program. Word Pad
Following on from Noel's link, if you can't get the original document
converted (as per the KB article 'workarounds') then you should still be able to open it with Notepad (All Files) to inspect and at least read (decipher), the text.
