Default Are there drivers for TFT screen under WinME/Win)8 available ?

I am thinking about to buy a TFT screen for an older PC on which a WinME resp. Win98 is running.
Are there drivers available for these old WinOS?

Or is the minimum Win2000 required to use TFT screens ?

Gunter,

In virtually all cases no special drivers are required for a TFT screen
just as none are usually required for a CRT monitor. I have had 15" and
17" TFT monitors connected to my Win Me system here and in neither case
installed any monitor drivers.

Win ME will see most TFT screens a 'Plug and Play' monitors - and should
have no problems with them.
Check out the manufacturer's website before buying, though!

Monitors don’t need drivers. When you install a driver for your
monitor, all you are doing is telling windows what the monitore is
capable of (resolution, depth, refresh rate etc.) there is no need to
install drivers for monitors, providing the monitor displays what is
ment to be displayed.

Somewhat incorrect - *some* monitors DO need external drivers - all actually
need drivers, but most are classed as Plug and Play, so the minimum required
drivers are already included in the system.

More often than not, if the screen shows the wrong resolution, then it's a
problem with the Graphics card drivers, rather than the Monitor drivers -
but NOT, by any means, always!

Just to confirm Noel's info, my TFT does not display at full capability if
not using its own driver.

"all actually need drivers"
No they don’t, the graphics card out puts a standerdized signel, the
operating system just "tells" the graphics card what to show, it
proccess what is to be displayed, and out puts it as a standared
single (this applies for both RGB and DVI).

Want more proof?

I have a monitor this is not plug and play compliant (it’s quite a
few years old) and hence is not detected by windows, how ever this
dose not matter as it meets the RGB standars set years befor it was
built, which means it will work with any modern PC providing it has a
RBG out. Aditionaly, since it is not detected by windows, windows
alows the graphics card to be set to any resolution it supports. (even
though the monitor only supports 1024X768 at 62Hz maximum).

"Just to confirm Noel’s info, my TFT does not display at full

This is becasue windows is using the wrong driver, and hence forth
limits the graphics card with the wrong configurtion. If you forced
windows to use the default monitor driver, it should alow you to use
all resolutions depths and refresh rates the graphics card supports.

You may want to try this:
Open Drivers - Free Download Fujitsu Device Driver Downloads.
If your eyeballed model is a different make, go to their site.
