keyboard MS-DOS v WinME
I have Windows ME with an AZERTY keyboard (Belgium). After formatting the
C-disk and reinstallation of WinME, I have following problem : I have adapted keyboard to AZERTY. Windows is OK but when I work under MS-DOS the keyboard turns into QWERTY. I tried additions in the config.sys and autoexec.bat but that doesn't help (This additions disappear after rebooting the computer). With Windows 95 (my second PC) this action worked well !! Can somebody help me please ! |

keyboard MS-DOS v WinME
Win Me does not use or processes either config.sys or autoexec.bat when
booting. These files are simply retained for backward compatibility with programs that expect to find these two files. Configure your keyboard when in a DOS window running under Win Me by using MSConfig (Start, Run, enter MSConfig in the box and click OK) and open the International tab, select your preferred language/keyboard layout from the drop down box at the top - for example French (Belgian), If you continue to experience problems see MS KB 272719 - "International Keyboard Settings Do Not Work in an MS-DOS Prompt" (http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=272719) and see if it applies. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Walter.vb wrote: I have Windows ME with an AZERTY keyboard (Belgium). Mike,
You gave me the solution I was looking for since many days. Thank you, thank you, thank you very much. You make me very happy. The b)-item was the missing link ! Walter Van Bijlen Belgium "Mike M" schreef in bericht ... My apologies, I sent the previous message before I had finished. After selecting French (Belgian) or whatever in the drop down box you need also to: a) Add the required keyboard language in the Keyboard Layout box - I suspect that this should be be b) Remove the C:\Windows\Command\ from before keyboard.sys in the Keyboard Data File Name box. Walter,
Glad to have been able to help. I don't really understand why MSConfig has such problems when the full path is included with the file name. This is something that was brought up during the beta of Win Me and never fixed. :-( Cheers, -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Walter.vb wrote: Mike, You gave me the solution I was looking for since many days.
