You need to provide substantially more information. For example what
hardware you are using, what you have done starting at the beginning and what error messages you are seeing and at which step. For example I have no idea what you mean by "It states that the *mdismpm*.sys... ". States what? That this file is missing, that it is the wrong version, when? mdismpm.sys is not part of the operating system but instead is I believe a driver used by some Thomson/Alcatel devices. Are you trying to use such a device (modem perhaps), have you installed the necessary drivers that should have been on a CD that came with the device? -- Mike Maltby Quietman26040 wrote: I am having issues intalling Comcast to my Windows Me. My apologies, I overlooked the reference to Arris Cable modem in the
subject of this thread nevertheless more details are required of the steps taken and problems and error messages encountered along the way. Also how are you connecting your PC to the modem? -- Mike Maltby Mike M wrote: You need to provide substantially more information. Arris Cable modem and "mdismpm.sys"
Sorry for not being clear... As far as hardware goes I am using a USB to
connect the cable modem as I do not have anything else. The Arris modem disk has set up its drivers and it shows all installed. The device is showing in hardware profiles but with a yellow circle with an exclamation point. So it is present but something is impeding it. Midway though the Comcast setup disk... it test the modem and A Windows pop up message states the file mdismpm.sys is missing and the LAN is not present. I wish I could describe it better but I'm not proficient in this area. The frustrating thing is that I had a Comcast cable modem hooked up to it over a year ago and I gave it to a friend thinking all was OK...now no go. Arris modem disk has set up its drivers and it shows all installed.
Which it seems it isn't otherwise you would not be seeing ... The device is showing in hardware profiles but with a yellow circle with an exclamation point. This normally signifies the device driver is not present or not installed correctly. You need to uninstall and then reinstall until you clear this problem. Don't bother going beyond this step until you get the all clear in Device Manager. Note also that it is essential that you are installing Win Me compatible drivers for this device. I can't really help beyond these comments as I have no access to an Arris Cable modem, a device about which I know nothing. I have however in the past used ADSL modems that connect via usb and had no problems with them, or rather none when installing or using one. Personally however I'd never advise anyone to use a USB modem and instead to use a router which is then attached to the modem and to connect to the router using a network cable between a network card installed in the PC and the router. -- Mike Maltby Quietman26040 wrote: Sorry for not being clear...
