Searching for files does not return anything no matter what I ask to find

I have a XP sp/2 operating system. A while back my Drive search
stopped working. I would enter a field or a file type to find. The
system would go into a busy status and then return absolutely no
results. I can not figure it out. Does any one have any ideas???

Your problem could be just possibly because your system is looking for the
appropriate newsgroup to post your question since this one is for those
experiencing hardware problems on systems running the Windows Millennium
operating system.

I figured it out. Turns out that I had to turn of indexing services.
Somehow or the other the index became corrupted.

That's odd as I have indexing services switched off on all of my systems
running XP and have no difficulty in using Search to locate files.
