Win Me, PCI Error on startup!!

Hi, i installed a pcmcia card for a wireless adapter in an open pci slot.
(last open slot). When i go to restart windows, it gives an error #
0021-98:PCI error. Then it gives you options to continue by hitting the F1
key and it will boot the rest as normal and the device does work after that.
Very annoying error. Is there a reason it does this? Configuration perhaps.

Try changing the slot in which the card is installed - preferably move it
away from the graphics slot.

how many slots are there?
What's in them?
I'd place this card furthest from the AGP/video slot, and put almost
anything else (except a soundcard) next to the video slot

4 pci slots. #1 has video card, #2 -usb card, #3- network card, and last is
pcmcia card. I reset cmos and it gave me another error 0012-34: incorrect pci
config. Thanks

Is this an HP machine?
That error message merely means that the CMOS has noted the change, AFAICT -
although the verbiage accompanying the number is usually 'System
Configuration Error' - did you go back into the BIOS to accept it? (F2,
perhaps?)
(FYI, the original error apparently means "If you don't use the HP preload
software, the IDE drivers must be loaded.")

Hmmm - if accepting the BIOS change recognition doesn't work, then try this

2 Network
3 USB

Yes, an older HP vectra. It does not give you the option to accept, just
continue and view system. Will try it..

Hmmmm - If I'm reading the Google finds right, the 0012-34 error is just a
tag to get you to open the BIOS and accept the changes - have you done that?
Choose the option to View the system (which should take you into the BIOS) -
then exit the BIOS saving changes.
