Default Disk Write Error

Hard disk is failing, or the drive is trying to write to a write protected
floppy or cdrom drive,

You didnt state when the errors occur, or which drive is being accessed (look
at drive lights)
If the error relates to floppy drive access, then there is either no disk in
the drive or the write protect tab is closed.
If the error relates to the cdrom, check the settings for temp drives and
virtual memory since cdroms are NOT writeable and the os shouldnt be trying to
write to them
If the error relates to the hard disk, then you should check out the drive,
using scandskw and dos scandisk, surface check enabled, and with the hard
drive manufacturer's disk utility downloaded from the support page of their
web site(usually available). such scans take a while but its easier to remap
failing clusters, than replace lost information later
