Problems with Outlook Express.
I Can receive mail, but if I try to send it I get the
folowing: The host 'earthlink' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'earthlink', Server: 'earthlink', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D Frankly, I don't know what the hell this means. Thanking you in advance for a lucid and civil response, GR |

Problems with Outlook Express.
The message means that Outlook Express could not connect to the earthlink
server. As it says, check that you have entered the correct address in Tools | Accounts, earthlink, Properties | Servers, Outgoing mail. Have you tried sending mail since you received that error message? It is quite possible that the earthlink SMTP server was temporarily unavailable. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP G.R. wrote: I Can receive mail, but if I try to send it I get the folowing: The host 'earthlink' could not be found. Mike,
Thank for your quick and lucid response. For Tools-Accounts-Earthlink-properties-Servers-Outgoing mail, I got "earthlink." The same as for incoming mail. GR,
You need to enter the address of the earthlink SMTP server. You should be able to establish this from their support site. I think it is mail.earthlink.net but you really should check. Anyone know why I get an error message "too many
recipients" (error 0x800CCC79)when I try to send out an email to groups thru webmail? -----Original Message----- GR, You need to enter the address of the earthlink SMTP server. Because the web mailer you are using limits the number of recipients of a
post - in other words from the message you quoted "too many recipients". The reason being to limit its use for sending spam. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP wrote: Anyone know why I get an error message "too many recipients" (error 0x800CCC79)when I try to send out an email to groups thru webmail? |
