Default Belkin USB hub producing Fatal Ex. 0E

Dell XPS T600r P3 running 98SE. Belkin 4 port Hub FSU234.

I've had this hub a while with no problems until recently. Machine refused
to boot. Unplugged all peripherals except what is necessary (keyboard mouse
and monitor), then would boot. Found that with no devises attached, as soon
as I attach the hub W98, falls over with the following fatal exception 0E at
002:C0014FDO. Then on attempting to restart I get a KEBUGCHECKEX called by
c002b84f. Error code 48 - Param. 0 0 0 0 System halted.

Can anyone help me out here with some sort of fix and/or explanation?
Many thanks.
Dave

Try a different hub.

Thanks for the reply but it wasn't what I was expecting. Was hoping for a
suggestion as to what the error reports indicated. I don't really want to
swallow the cost of a new hub unecessarally, plus the hub comes with a
lifetime guarrentee so some details on the error might help me twist Belkin's
arm in replacing it.
In searching MSDN found that the KEBUGCHECKEX error was used in driver
development so I thought it might be a corrupt microsoft driver? Anyway to
isolate that? Can anyone suggest what the fatal ex. OE 002:C0014FDO might
indicate?

Thanks again.

Do other USB devices work correctly? If so, remove and replace the driver
for the Hub. Check the Belkin site for an updated driver. This article
might help.

General USB Troubleshooting in Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and
Windows Me
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=263218

if not, try these:

Troubleshooting Device Driver Issues by Using the Driver Information
Database

How to Troubleshoot Hardware Device Drivers

If you have enough disk space, you might also want to do a test install to a
new folder, then install the Belkin hub. If it works here, then the hub is
okay. You can then decide whether to go back to the old Windows
installation and do more troubleshooting or to keep the new installation and
install your programs here.

Thanks Patty. Will give those a try when I get home and post my results
subsequently.

I'd borrow one before I bought a new one.
