mouse and frozen keyboard
My mouse(logitech optical mouse) and keyboard randomly freeze. I do
ctrl-alt-delete and the task list shows msgsrv32 not responding. I check the device manager and the mouse has disappeared on the hardware list. Next to usb human interface in the list there is a red x, usually it has a green question mark. The mouse works briefly if I click refresh in the device manager. It works longer if I reboot. Tech support cant help me, maybe some out there can??? Thanks. |

Check with the Logitech web site that you have the most recent
Win Me compatible drivers for your mouse. If that doesn't fix the problem get yourself a PS2 mouse (buy or borrow) and see if you still have problems. It is not really surprising that you see msgsrv32 not responding when you have problems as msgsrv32 is used by the operating system to communicate with the various device drivers and if one of those drivers fails then msgsrv32 will hang. However if this is only a recent problem, what changes did you make or were made to your system at the time this problem started? Have you tried undoing those changes? If only a recent problem you could use system restore to roll your system back to the state it was in before this problem started. See MS KB 138708 - "Function of the Windows 32-Bit Message Server" (http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=138708) for a description of the purpose of msgsrv32.exe. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP AEAink wrote: My mouse(logitech optical mouse) and keyboard randomly freeze. Thank you Mike for your info, I will check out the logitech site and the
other link you suggested. I did try a system restore, but the computer would not reboot after the restore shut down the computer, it, too, froze, and when I restarted manually the restore was not compeleted (error message) (I think I have other computer issues). Thanks again for the info and for the quick response. "Mike M" wrote: Check with the Logitech web site that you have the most recent Win Me compatible drivers for your mouse.
