New AVG AV 8.0 no longer supports Win 98/ME
Heather wrote: http://www.oldversion.com/ OJ....go to the above link for older programs. I often put this link out on this group for the very reason that it has copies of older programs. And yes, when I use Zone Alarm, I use an older version even on XP. NEW is not always BEST!! Like Zone Alarm and CCleaner had versions that were as best as they could get (IMO) for Win ME |

Hello, O.J.!
You wrote on Mon, 3 Mar 2008 15:24:24 -0500: ON ...The only problem is that with anti-virus programs, ON some products, such as AntiVir, are no longer supplying definition ON updates to their last Win 98/ME version. Anti-virii progs can be so overrated.. I mean.. I don't even remember the last time a virus was detected on my winme pc. As long as we do the common-sense things (avoid clicking on links and attachments in unsolicted mail, and check for hidden file extensions), the risks are fairly low. By the time winme and win98 have no further anti-virii programs available, we would all be using Linux anyway, right? |
