Default SQL-NET port 150

I have been taking copious hits (blocked by my firewall, thank you) to port
150. These are from a variety of IP's, all FWIN and TCP (flag: S). Is
this some sort of DoS? I have had over 1,500 hits today....anyone else
noticing this?

If you are truly worried, ask in a Security News Group or in a FireWall News Group.

I looked in my WallWatcher log and I have had zero TCP Port 150 hits in the last 45 days.
This is nothing compared to the 172,147 TCP port 445 hits during the same period.

As long as you are not using a SQL client and have that port open, nothing to worry about.

Nah, I'm not using SQL, but, I am continuing to get slammed on port 150. It
is blocked, but, I have taken about 3,000 hits today alone. My ISP doesn't
have a clue.....of course, neither do I.

Well, whatever it was has stopped as of this morning. Took a pounding for
two days and it stopped as quickly as it started. ??????

I have a static IP. I can change it, but, it takes some time and
effort.....it involves disconnecting my cable modem during the time that IP
addresses are assigned by the ISP and hoping that mine is one of the
addresses used. Not a real reliable method. I can call and have them
change it for me, however.....even that requires about an hour down time.

Anyhoo, the problem has ceased....I have only had 74 'hits' all total
today.....'bout normal. Thanks for your concern, Dave.
