bad sectors
I have windows 98 OS.When i switch on my sysytem,the scandisk starts
automatically and detects bad sectors in the c drive.should the bad sectors be compulsorily removed.if so how?kindly give me suggestions. added to this, the sysytem processing speed has also gone down.when i try to defragment, after about 40% i get the msg"'detecting a change in the drive, restarting",but this problem prevails mainly in c drive in the other drives the defragmenter does its job well. |

Start the computer in Safe mode(tap the F8 key repeatedly during = bootup),=20 click "Start", "Run", type "scandskw" and click "OK". Defrag is best done in Safe mode as well. Ben |

Get some hard disk drive diagnostic software at the web
site of the manufacturer of your disks. Use the diagnostics to find out whether the bad sectors are likely to get worse or not. If they are likely to get worse, replace the drive. -----Original Message----- I have windows 98 OS.When i switch on my sysytem, the scandisk starts automatically and detects bad sectors in the c drive.should the bad sectors be compulsorily removed.if so how?kindly give me suggestions. added to this, the sysytem processing speed has also gone down.when i try to defragment, after about 40% i get the msg"'detecting a change in the drive, restarting",but this problem prevails mainly in c drive in the other drives the defragmenter does its job well. . |
