Default backup.lnk missing

I was attempting to do a backup and after going to accessoriessystems
toolsbackup, I get a message stating that the backup.lnk is missing. I
tried to find the file and could not.
1. Where did it go?
2. Can I restore the file?
3. Is there another way to backup files to a CD-R?

Thanks

yOU NEED TO USE YOUR BURNING SOFTWARE TO WRITE TO A cd-r DISK.

You can use a CD-RW disk as a 'floppy' once you format it with the CD
software.

The Win98 backup app is named MSBACKUP.EXE
but is old and puny, e.g. cannot copy to CD drives.
The main reason not to use it is that it is unreliable.
You can reinstal it via / Add/Remove / Windows Setup
/ Accessories.
But hard drives and CDs are now so cheap most of
us just write batch files to copy files for backup.
