It used to be yes with IE5, but with IE6 came a relentless file
associationing with Front Page and NOT Front Page Express. Read - it
can NOT be changed from "Front Page Editor" text...

Yes it can be changed per directions someone else gave earlier via
Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, File Types.

And every time you open the drop down box it will get changed back,
but you seem to want to ignore that part of IE6. IE5 was not like
that so both methods would work just fine for IE5.

Ah, once you pick the editor you want, why would you be using the drop down
box again?

I set mine as HTML-Kit and it never changes....

NOTE though, whatever your registry holds as DEFAULT for html editing
[.htm|.html] should be the default in IE, be it Word or something like
ULTRAEdit.. Issues? Change the default handler either via the program or by
editing the file associations system-wide. You can have more than one
editor, but only one default.
