Default Why does this happen?

I have 2 OS's, win98se and xp home, on one hd, in different partitions.
Why is it when i boot up directly into XP, I get a reminder that my C
drive is short of space. That is where my win98 is installed. I'm not
using it except for a tv tuner that does not work in XP. I do not use it
for anything else. Is there a way to stop the reminder?
