Default External Hard Drive with Win98

Is there a way to attach (and use) an external hard drive to an older
Thinkpad running WIN98? If so, what drive, etc.?

Do not want to even consider upgrading the OS or the internal hard
drive (shudder).

Check with the manufacturer of the drive model(s) that you are
considering and see if they provide drivers for Windows 98.

Maxtor, for example, lists their external drives as compatible with
Windows 98 SE but do not mention Windows 98 Original. I would suspect
that most drives would be similar, because of the improved USB support
included in Windows 98 SE.

Good luck

If you have Win98 SE you should be able to attach a USB drive.
Check the manufacturer's site for compatibility with Win98 SE as you
will need drivers.

Radioshack.com has several LaCie USB harddrivesstarting at around $119.
Drivers can be downloaded at http://www.lacie.com/support/drivers/
