Default Looking for a backup program

I would like to find a backup program that would allow me to choose the
folders that I want to backup, and then would let me burn them to a cd.

The only other requirements would be that it was simple and inexpensive
(read FREE)

I would appreciate any suggestions of products that people are using and
having good success with

The best free program to do this would be the CD burning program that was
supplied with the CD writer. It allows you to drag selected folders into
the current image, a folder at a time, and then burn the lot to CD.

Or do you have other requirements that means this program is not suitable?

I ha not thought of that, but wanted to create some different backup
scenarios - so maybe that would work

There are other specific things that a backup program can do for you, but
without knowing what your requirements are it's hard to make suggestions.
For instance, a backup program might allow you to do incremental backups,
where you only copy things that have changed since the last backup (but
since this process adds considerable complication to the restore procedure,
few people use it outside a business situation), or it might allow you to
create backup sets that are bootable so that a whole-disk restore can be
done to a completely blank disk in one step, or it might be intelligent
about handling files that appear to be currently in use, so it doesn't risk
backing up files that are internally invalid, or it might know about certain
files that shouldn't be backed up, like the swap file.

There's lots of features that programmers can put in backup programs, but
you need to decide which ones are important for you, and which ones you are
prepared to pay for them.
