Fails after start up--"system unstable"
I have a bad problem with my PC--after it boots up to the normal start
screen, within several seconds I get a blue screen message from my Gateway Goback program saying my system has become unstable and must be rebooted to avoid disk corruption. Occasionally, it will show a fatal exception message after the Goback message. The system does not do this when started in safe mode. I have run complete scan disks (data and surface area) in safe mode with no problem found, also system file checker and registry checker, again no problerm found. I have also run my antivirus using the rescue disks in ms dos mode with no infections found. Also, my Gateway comp came with a "GW Scan" disk which checks the physical condition of the hard drive--no problem found! I have no idea what to do- is it a hardware problem? Virus? Software/system issue? Someone help!!!! |

Start in safe mode, press start, run, and enter in msconfig, disable the Goback application, and see if it will then boot into regular mode AND will function properly while in there. If you don't want to use msconfig then here's a handy application to use instead: http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml Remember, don't delete the entry, just disable it for now.
