retrieving Windows 98 SE cd-key from cd

I have a copy of Windows 98 SE but have lost the CD Key

I've heard there is a way of getting the key from the cd itself...does
anyone know how to do this ?

I don't know of any way to get it from the CD but if you can still boot to
Windows (even if you can if you're savvy enough they tell me) then you can
try this:

Also, your key might very well be on the side of your computer on a green
sticker as is OFTEN the case.

The key is not stored on the CD in any form nor in any version of Windows.
